Bio

Nelu Handa is an actor, comedian and writer based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, North America, Earth.

Her first acting role, at the tender age of 7, was impersonating Elvis singing 'Heartbreak Hotel' for anyone who would walk into her living room. After many years of being involved in the dramatic arts, she then pursued a business degree and parlayed her latent comedy passions into being the goofiest marketer in the boardroom. And then her actor whispers became yells and could no longer be ignored.

Trained extensively in Improv comedy, Nelu is a graduate of The Second City Conservatory program and has studied at Bad Dog Comedy Theatre and Upright Citizens Brigade.

Nelu is a writer and performer on the hit shows Baroness Von Sketch Show (CBC/IFC/Netflix), The Beaverton (CTV), and she plays Jade on Workin Moms (CBC/Netflix). She has been on a variety of kids shows and has also been in a bunch of cool commercials.

In 2015, Nelu created YAS KWEEN, a groundbreaking monthly night of comedy that showcases Women of Colour. It's the first Thursday of every month. Come check it out #YasKweenTO.

She's been featured in FLARE's #HowIMadeIt list, Fashion Magazine's Women Taking Over Comedy, and named one of the top 10 comedic minds in Toronto.

Nelu has crossed paths with Tom Cruise a few times and everytime it's felt really great.

P.S: It's pronounced 'knee-loo'
